John Sullivan is a Director at the Financial Integrity Network. He joined FIN in September of 2017, after over a decade working with the U.S. Government.
John recently returned from a three-year assignment as the U.S Treasury Department’s attaché in Baghdad, where he directed U.S. efforts to help enhance the Iraqi financial system’s protections against illicit finance, especially after the emergence of ISIS as a major global threat. During his tenure in Baghdad, Sullivan also worked on a number of initiatives to assist the Iraqi Government's economic reform program, including efforts to expand financial inclusion and combat corruption.
Prior to that, John was the Spokesperson for Treasury's Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, where he worked closely with senior leadership to manage outreach on a wide variety of illicit finance issues, ranging from targeting transnational criminal networks to implementing sanctions programs focused on state actors, such as Iran and North Korea.
Earlier in his career, John worked for both the U.S. Departments of State and Defense as a spokesperson for U.S policy related to the Middle East, directing government initiatives designed to expand global press freedoms and professionalism.
John holds a bachelor's degree in Middle East Studies from the George Washington University.
